ABOUT THE UGLIES

If you haven't heard of the Uglies Trilogy, I really do have to say that you are in the wrong place. The best way to understand what's going on here is to read the books. To give you an idea of what your dealing with, here is the Uglies synopsis, as says Amazon.com:

"Playing on every teen’s passionate desire to look as good as everybody else, Scott Westerfeld (Midnighters) projects a future world in which a compulsory operation at sixteen wipes out physical differences and makes everyone pretty by conforming to an ideal standard of beauty. The "New Pretties" are then free to play and party, while the younger "Uglies" look on enviously and spend the time before their own transformations in plotting mischievous tricks against their elders. Tally Youngblood is one of the most daring of the Uglies, and her imaginative tricks have gotten her in trouble with the menacing department of Special Circumstances. She has yearned to be pretty, but since her best friend Shay ran away to the rumored rebel settlement of recalcitrant Uglies called The Smoke, Tally has been troubled. The authorities give her an impossible choice: either she follows Shay’s cryptic directions to The Smoke with the purpose of betraying the rebels, or she will never be allowed to become pretty. Hoping to rescue Shay, Tally sets off on the dangerous journey as a spy. But after finally reaching The Smoke she has a change of heart when her new lover David reveals to her the sinister secret behind becoming pretty. The fast-moving story is enlivened by many action sequences in the style of videogames, using intriguing inventions like hoverboards that use the rider’s skateboard skills to skim through the air, and bungee jackets that make wild downward plunges survivable -- and fun. Behind all the commotion is the disturbing vision of our own society -- the Rusties -- visible only in rusting ruins after a virus destroyed all petroleum. Teens will be entranced, and the cliffhanger ending will leave them gasping for the sequel."

So, basically, it is four hundred forty-eight pages of pure bliss. Do yourself a favour and read it.

ABOUT THIS RPG

Since the fanbase of the Uglies is not as large as, say, that of Harry Potter, we are not going to be so picky about RP-ers. However, I must be honest, if you can't spell, can't capitalize, and can't punctuate like that of at least a fifth grader, your possibility factor of being accepted will most likely be slim. But how would we know if you had no not the slightest idea of the Uglies or grammar usage? By you giving us a Sample RP. That is why it is in the application.

Like most RPs, we will roleplay in a forum atmosphere. That is, someone starts a thread, someone replies, others pop in when they feel the need to. Keep in mind that roleplaying does not mean a couple sentences. We want you to describe what is going on. It would be nice if you actually liked writing. As in, you do it as a hobby in your spare time, especially if you have no spare time and you just end up procrastinating on everything else to write.

Unlike most RPs, this RPG is also blog-based. That is, if you would like, your character can keep a journal. They will post, from their point of view, their problems and their everyday happenings. Your character does not have to have a blog. Your blogs don't have to be LiveJournal or anything, they can be a blog site hosted by me. If you're no good with graphics, contact someone that is. That's what the Avatar & Signature section is for. If you still don't understand the idea of blogs, maybe the What are blogs? section will help.
